Caravan Comeback
CARAVAN BREAKS IN BRITAIN BOOMThe National Caravan Council has revealed figures showing a 20% rise in camp site bookings showing that the unique holiday style is certainly set for a comeback. With the combination of the weakening euro, soaring mortgage payments, expensive utility bills and general economic gloom, people are feeling the effects and look to their own childhood days of caravanning pleasures for vacation inspiration. |

Haven Holidays says there has been a 30% rise in bookings, as well as Hoseasons Holidays who saw a 15% increase in booking figures. One in eight Britons chose to holiday in Britain in 2008 and caravanning's 19% of the UK holiday market last year is expected to rise further. With the current economic situation people see buying a caravan as a long term investment as opposed to splashing out on one holiday abroad. The other appeal to a caravan holiday is that they are very eco- aware, with lower co2 emissions than many other modes of transportation used for holidays. Hoseasons chief executive Richard Carrick said: "We have seen a real boost in booking figures and the strength of the euro is having a really positive impact on UK bookings. This is definitely a result of holiday makers looking closer to home for better value breaks. Caravan holidays on UK parks fit the bill perfectly." |
