Caravan breaks in Britain boom
The most recent statistics from the National Caravan Council clearly show that caravan holidays are still as popular as ever.
In 2008, more than £1.70 billion was spent on caravan holidays. With caravan parks across the UK experiencing constant increases in bookings; as a result caravan holidays accounted for nearly 11 million trips in 2008.
It’s not surprising that caravan holidays are such a popular choice, they offer complete freedom and flexibility to go where you want, when you want. Caravanning is the perfect holiday if you need to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxed, picturesque weekend away from the grind of daily life.
The most appealing thing about caravanning that could account for the 51 million nights spent in caravans each year is that you can combine the thrill of heading wherever you desire whilst taking all your home comforts with you.
With the current economic situation people see buying a caravan as a long term investment as opposed to splashing out on one holiday abroad. The other appeal to a caravan holiday is that they are very eco- aware, with lower co2 emissions than many other modes of transportation used for holidays.
Hoseasons chief executive Richard Carrick said: "We have seen a real boost in booking figures and the strength of the euro is having a really positive impact on UK bookings. This is definitely a result of holiday makers looking closer to home for better value breaks. Caravan holidays on UK parks fit the bill perfectly."
