Opera Australia is set to transform Sydney harbour

Sydney Opera HouseIf you’re planning a trip to Sydney and are looking for things to do, then this could be the perfect experience for your trip.

From the 24th of March 2012 for three weeks Opera Australia will be taking its performance of La Traviata to the water of Sydney Harbour. They are hoping to be able to make this an annual event for the future.

The Royal Botanical Gardens will be transformed with a 25 metre open-air stage on the water lit by a giant Swarovski chandelier and fantastic fireworks. The backdrop will include views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the beautiful Sydney city skyline.

Lyndon Terracini, artistic director of Opera Australia said, “Everyone loves to look at the outside of the Sydney Opera House, so why not have that as the backdrop of a wonderful production”.

This sounds like an event not to be missed, whether you are a fan of the opera or not.
