ABTA
Represents over 5,500 travel agencies and 900 tour operations, throughout the British Isles and regulates the activities of British travel agents to protect the client’s money until it is paid to ABTA tour operators by bonding the travel agents. The site covers all aspects of advice to travellers and provides a list of agents in your area. Enquiries also relate to disputes between the client and travel agent or tour operator.
ABTA’s main aims are to maintain high standards of trading practice for the benefit of its members, the travel industry at large, and the consumers that they serve, and to create as favorable a business climate as possible for its members.
ABTA is a non-party political organization which represents the interests of its members to government and key opinion formers. As well as working to make sure that governments are sensitive to the needs of the travel industry, they work with other leading travel industry organizations and maintain strong links with representatives of the main travel destinations and with other travel principals and suppliers. Many of these belong to ABTA’s Travel Industry Partner scheme. Their policies and views are actively promoted to international, national, regional and trade media. They offer a list of events, annual reports and leaflets you can download, and a brief history.
