Camping holidaysDo you want to reconnect with nature? Do you need a cheaper option for your family holiday this year? Whatever your reason, more and more people are opting to brave the great outdoors and spend a few nights with only canvas between them and the stars, with approximately 1.2 million people in the UK going camping on a regular basis.

Having a tent, a caravan or a camper van can open up a world of possibilities for great value holidays and breaks.

So maybe the economic downturn has made you realise that the easy, portable holiday is just what you need. If you’re new to camping, don’t worry, the Travellers Club has compiled a few camping essentials for you to consider.

Camping essentials

What you need varies from person to person; but generally, you need to consider the different factors that apply to you: the length of your trip, the climate, the terrain and the number of people.
At minimum you will probably need;

  • Tent
  • Mallet
  • Sleeping bags
  • Air bed/roll mats
  • Pillows
  • Cooking equipment
  • Necessary bathroom essentials
  • Clothes
  • First aid kit
  • Torch
  • Outdoor furniture

Camping no longer has to be a complete back to basics experience, unless of course you want it to be. There are now many different ways to go camping that mean you don’t have to leave all the home comforts behind.
